Kalie is excited for her fourth year as Director. Kalie grew up in Darien, and her parents still reside in her childhood home. She left Darien and headed to Hood College, in Frederick Maryland where she received a B.A in Studio Art and Graphic Design. It was after working in the graphic design industry for almost two years that she felt called back to school to gain her teaching certification in Early Childhood Education. Kalie started as a teacher at NPNS in 2008. Kalie and Peter have been married since 1995, and have two beautiful children, Gillian a senior and competitive rifle shooter and Luke, an 8th grader working towards his Eagle Scout rank. When Kalie is not at work she can be found reading, biking, making jewelry, quilting and spending time with her family.
This is Jessica's nineth year at NPNS. Jessica has worked as a Four's teacher, Support Staff, Extended Day Coordinator and is currently the Office Manager for NPNS. Jessica has three children that all attended NPNS. She was on the NPNS Board for three years and one year served as our Board Chair.
Liz Anavy is joining our staff this year as our Nurse Consultant. She received her BSN from UMASS, Amherst and MSN from Simmons College. Her nursing career has included hospital inpatient work in Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care in Hartford. After moving to Fairfield County, has worked inpatient and outpatient at Greenwich Hospital and in a school based Health Center in Stamford. Liz is also a past NPNS parent with three boys.
This is Yasmin’s 14th year at NPNS teaching our Two’s Program. Yasmin is a native of England and attended teacher training college in London, England. She received her CDA from NCC. Yasmin is the mother of two sons, Jayden 14 and Malik 17. She enjoys working out at the gym, gardening, traveling and reading.
Debbie joins NPNS as a 4 day 2's teacher. She holds a Masters degree in early education and a Montessori teaching certificate. She was a teacher at Whitby Montessori school for seven years before she left to raise her 3 children, now 14, 13 and 9. Two years ago Debbie began teaching for Playdates. She is excited to return the the classroom and join Annie in creating a loving and enriching 2's program. Debbie lives here in Darien with her husband and three children.
Annie Weibel joined NPNS last year as an extended day teacher and support staff. She is excited to be teaching the 4 day twos class with Ms. Wayland. Prior to joining the NPNS teaching staff, Annie worked as a toddler and preschool teacher in Darien. She lives in Darien with her husband Robert and three boys, who all attend the Darien public schools. Annie is very active volunteering for the PTO's at her children's schools and in her free time she enjoys watching her children play sports and travelling.
3's Program Teachers
Sarah is looking forward to her 17th year at NPNS. She will be teaching the 5 Day Morning 3’s and 4 Day pm 3's. Sarah is originally from Wales where she graduated from Cardiff College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. After college, Sarah worked at a day care program with children from birth to 5. She then became head teacher for 2 years before moving to America. Sarah has taught Sunday school and has volunteered for Younglives mentoring young girls and their babies and children. Sarah has been the Director of the camp at NPNS for 9 years and also the camp Director at the Middlesex Tennis and Swim Club in Darien for the past 8 years. Sarah enjoys reading, walking, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Sarah is excited to begin another school year!
Hello! I’m Miss Carrie and I’m very excited for this to be my first year at NPNS working in the 5 day 3’s morning and the 4 day 3’s afternoon classes! I grew up in Portland, Maine and I now live in Rowayton, CT. I have a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education from Manhattanville College. I have taught Pre-K through 2nd Grade at local independent schools in CT as well as in New York City in previous years. I’m thrilled to be working with the 3’s this year and helping to inspire their love of learning!
Jen is looking forward to her new partnership in the three's with Mrs. Vitale this year. Prior to coming to NPNS, Jen was a Lead Teacher in a Three’s class for 7 years. Jen is a mother to two boys ages 14 and 16. She lives in Norwalk with her husband, children and Golden Retriever Jaxson. During Jen’s free time she enjoys travelling, boating, skiing and watching her children play lacrosse, football and baseball.
Angela is looking forward to her ninth year at NPNS and is excited to be teaching the 5-Day morning 3’s with Jen Lusardo. Angela has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a CT State Certification in Elementary Education and continues to study Early Childhood Education. Prior to joining NPNS, Angela taught gymnastics to 2, 3 and 4 year olds at The Little Gym and she was a substitute teacher at Pear Tree Point School for PreK-Grade 5. Angela has twin 9-year old granddaughters, both graduates of NPNS. And two year old granddaughter looking forward to NPNS next year!
Margie is teaching the Four day 3's with Ms. Meg. She has been at NPNS since 2011. Margie is also our cooking specialist for the "Tiny Chef's"' and "Little Chef's" extended day programs. She attended University of Connecticut and is currently completing her Early Childhood Education Certificate. Last spring she attended the International Study Group at the Loris Malaguzzi Centre in Reggio Emila, Italy and is looking forward to starting this school year!
Meg joined NPNS eight years ago as support staff and extended day teacher. Since then, Meg has worked in our 2’s Program with Miss Yasmin, taught long day 4’s and has been teaching with Ms. Margie in the 3's for the last three years. Meg received her BA from Rosemont College in PA and is currently pursuing credential training in Child Development . She is the mother of two teenage children, a freshman and junior in college. She was both a Cub Scout leader and a Girl Scout leader and remains very active in the scouting community. Meg is also on the Board of the Darien Historical Society where she chairs the Education and children’s Events Committee.
Cynthia is looking forward to teaching the Long Day 4’s program with Ms. Irini again this year. Cynthia received her BA in English from Skidmore College. She holds a Child Development Associate (CDA) and recently graduated with an Early Childhood Education Certificate. In addition to teaching at NPNS, Cynthia has experience teaching children of many ages in programs and camps at The Audubon Center in Greenwich, Darien Environmental Group, Back Yard Beekeepers Association and Girl Scouts. Cynthia lives in Darien with her husband and has a grown daughter who attended Darien Schools.
This is Irini's 7th year teaching at NPNS. She is looking forward to beginning the school year teaching the long day 4's with Cynthia Dunn. Irini received her Bachelors degree in General Studies from the University of Connecticut and her CDA certificate in Early Childhood from Norwalk Community College. Before attending NPNS, Irini worked in the Early ChildHood field for over 15 years. She is happily married and has two beautiful daughters, Ellie who is 9 and Thespina who is 4 and Yianni was born in April.
Lauren joins us from Riverfield Elementary in Fairfield where she worked as a paraprofessional. She has previously taught Third Grade at Pear Tree Point School in Darien. Lauren obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Sacred Heart University. This is Lauren's second year in the NPNS community!
Pam will be teaching the 4's class with Ms. Lauren this year. She joined us last year to cover for a maternity leave and finished the year with us. This will be her first year back teaching since she became a stay-at-home mom. She has three children, one dog and two cats. She lives in Darien and grew up here as well. Pam received her Bachelors degree in psychology and her Masters Degree in elementary education. She worked at Royle School and taught Pre-K at Pear Tree Point School.
This will be Pats 3rd year teaching 4's with Ms. Gigi. Pat graduated from Curry College with degree’s in Education and Psychology. She has taught 3’s and 4’s in Greenwich for 12 years and 2’s and 3’s in Rowayton for 5 years. She lives in Greenwich and has 3 boys. Pat enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
This will be Gigi Zogheb's third year teaching at NPNS. She will be teaching in the AM 4's classroom. Prior to joining NPNS, Gigi taught in a 3's classroom in Westport, CT. Her experience also includes teaching at a Montessori school in Boca Raton, Florida were she taught in a 3-6 year old classroom as well as a 6-9 classroom for ten years. Gigi received her degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Delaware and shortly after that her Montessori certification from the American Montessori Society. Gigi and her husband, Richard, have two daughters. Gigi cherishes time with her family and friends and enjoys cooking, gardening and walking.
This is Kate's fourth year at NPNS and enjoys teaching at the school. Kate teaches the long day four's and really enjoys this age group. She has been teaching for over twenty five years in early education in independent schools. Kate went to Wheelock College and has studied at Columbia Teachers College. She views teaching as a vocation and is happy to be apart of the NPNS community. Kate is a life long learner and is constantly looking for new ways to enhance her learning. She enjoys traveling, cooking and reading.
Angela is very excited to join the NPNS community. She will be teaching the long day 4’s with Ms. Kate. Prior to joining NPNS she taught for several years in a Reggio inspired preschool in Westport and also lead a 3’s program in Norwalk. She loves teaching young children and delights in experiencing that first “AHA” moment with them. Angela graduated Magna Cum Laude from Charter Oak State College and holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. She is a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society recognizing academic achievements and the ability to balance the competing roles of work and family life. Angela lives in Norwalk with her husband Victor and has two children. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and taking walks with friends.
Eva is teaching the five‐day fours class at NPNS; this will be her 17th year at NPNS. She grew up in Rzeszow, Poland. She graduated from Teacher's Training College in Rzeszow and received a Teaching Certificate with a specialty in early childhood education. Shortly after, she moved to Cracow and then graduated from the English department of Jagiellonian University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in teaching. In Poland she had four years of experience as an elementary school and child care center educator. In 1994 she moved to Stamford. She then graduated from UConn with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Services. Eva and her husband have two daughters who are college students in Boston.
Jen is teaching five-day long-day fours with Ms. Eva. Ms. Jen started at NPNS as an extended day teacher and floater in 2011. Jen graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Psychology. She lives in Darien with her husband and three teenagers who all attend Darien High School.
Patty retired from 32 years of classroom teaching at NPNS in 2010. She taught the 2's, 4's and for many years was the Assistant Director of NPNS. She also taught 2nd, 5th, and 6th grades in elementary school. Patty received her BA from California State University at Long Beach and did her graduate work in education there as well as New York University. She also received certification by the State of CT to become a Designated Head Teacher for Child Day Care Centers in the State of CT. In 2011 Patty returned to NPNS supporting the teaching staff in many of the classrooms.
Karalesa is excited to be back for her third year as Support Staff at NPNS. She has been a current NPNS parent for four years now with her youngest in the 4's program this year. She has lots of energy and enjoys playing and participating with children during their school day.
Beth is happy to be returning to NPNS as support staff this year having previously worked as an extended day teacher for two years. Beth has over 12 years experience as a preschool teacher. She taught 3's and 4's at Breezy Point Day School in Bucks County, Pa where she was a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAYEC). Beth lives in Darien with her husband Lee and their three teenage children who are all graduates of NPNS. As a member of NPC, she served on the NPNS board as an Elder for three years and also enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years.
Melisse joined the staff of NPNS in January 2012 as an Extended Day teacher. This year she will be working as Support Staff, a substitute teacher and Extended Day teacher. Melisse has her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a concentration in Early Childhood Development and her graduate degree in Finance. Melisse, who lives in Darien with her husband Mike, has three children, James, Tyler and Jackie and three dogs, Chuck, Nala and Tanzie
Lyni has been with NPNS as an Extended Day teacher and a substitute teacher. She returns this year as support staff. She lives in town with her husband, son and daughter who both attended NPNS.
